Safety and Security

At Opus Adventures we place great emphasis on the safety and security of our customers and staff. Although accidents and incidents can never be completely eliminated in travels of adventurous nature we believe that with a good understanding of the hazards, assessment of the risks and well trained guides with good judgement accidents and incidents can be minimised.

Our guides all have comprehensive first-aid training, are equipped with reliable communicational equipment and have extensive experience in the outdoors and within ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue. Our safety and security policy focuses on the following fundamental issues:

• Detailed route-planning
• Active risk analysis, management and contingency planning
• Reliable communication
• First-aid and evacuation procedures

We also acknowledge the importance of safety and security issues with respect to the more conventional parts of our trips like general hygiene, bus travel, food preparation and more. All of these aspects and more have been dealt with in our risk management plan where risk factors are identified and analysed, guidelines for management and observation are outlined and contingency plans set out.
